Pearl and its uses –
- A pearl is a smooth almost round structured object with a bright lustrous surface originated from the oysters present deep down in the sea.
- Pearls are used in jewelry like necklaces, rings, and earrings. There are two shapes in which a pearl occurs, round or irregular.
- Mostly the round shaped pearls are used for many purposes, but nowadays irregular shaped beads are also being used prominently in the form of jewelry for a slightly different yet fashionable look.
Jewelry businesses are embracing different types of pearls that are available all over the world. The various kinds of pearls by their origin are –
- Freshwater and seawater pearls
The pearls which have originated naturally from the oysters present in the freshwater bodies such as ponds, rivers and lakes or seawater are called freshwater or seawater pearls. No manual intervention is done in the making of these pearls.
- Cultured pearls –
When the manual intervention is done with the making of pearls, then it is referred to as cultured pearls. The pearls are cultured manually with the help of tissues required for the process.
Natural pearls are not easily found that’s why mostly the pearls are cultured manually for the abundant use in the jewelry market because everyone loves pearl jewelry. It is one of the most used jewelry types.
Apart from the origin of pearls, various other types of pearls which are also embracing the jewelry business are –
- Akoya Pearls –
These are naturally small Japanese pearls with a soft white or water clear color which can be found easily all over the world.
- South Sea Pearls –
South Sea pearls are considered the biggest of all the pearls. They come in a wide range of colors like white, gold, pink, etc. They can be easily found in Australia and Indonesia.
- Tahitian Pearls –
They are marked with uniqueness. Tahitian pearls are naturally dark in color, like blue, purple, green, grey and black. Black pearls are the unique and beautiful Tahitian pearls.
- Mabe Pearls –
These are the flat type of pearls used to make pendants, rings because they cannot make beautiful necklaces.
